Citrix just released Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) version 2006, so let’s take a look at what is new.

The first thing is that you can now have VDA’s in maintenance mode and they will still be included in the reboot scheduled, previously this wasn’t possible and that has cause servers not to be restarted since a VDA could be in maintenance mode for any number of reasons. To use this new functionality you need to Use PowerShell, and below I have listed the way to do it for a new delivery group and how to update a current delivery group.

New-BrokerRebootSchedulev2 Silo1-RebootSchedule -DesktopGroupName Silo1 -IgnoreMaintenanceMode $true

Set-BrokerRebootSchedulev2 Silo1-RebootSchedule -IgnoreMaintenanceMode $true

Another new feature is that you can have applications being available in multiple resource locations without having to publish them manually to them all. The change is made in StoreFront and StoreFront has to be version 1912 CU1 or later. More information on how to set this up can be found here: CVAD Docs site

AutoScale of VDI groups can now be defined down to 30 mins, this also includes the minimum number of machines running in the delivery group. This change also requires you to use PowerShell. More information about that here: Broker PowerShell SDK

the last thing I want to mention is the MTU discovery for EDT. This feature allows the adjustment of network packages when it is not possible to run with the default size. This is a great enhancement that most customers will be happy about. The discovery requires you to have workspace app 1911 or newer (but that should be in place already because of support) and it requires Citrix ADC with a firmware version of 13.0.52.24 or 12.1.56.22.

For more information have a look at the Citrix docs where I also got the information for this short article. Link to what’s new for CVAD

Have a great day
